The 2 most important success factors

There are 2 attributes which will virtually guarantee your sales success; in fact, these two attributes will also virtually guarantee your success in life. They are: attitude and honesty.

The right attitude will give you the fortitude and thick skin necessary for long-term success. It will also make sure you're focused on helping other people, putting them before your company and yourself. The right attitude consists of: persistence, honesty, integrity, focusing on the positive, believing in yourself, your product, and your company, and simply deciding that you are responsible for your life and you will take yourself where you need to go.

We mentioned honesty as part of attitude and it can also be called a character trait. When we refer to honesty, we are specifically talking about honesty with prospects, customers, and other people you deal with in your life, such as your boss. People are human tuning forks and they can tell when people are being honest with them, especially when it comes to salespeople. Honesty may mean occasionally sending someone to the competition because they are better suited to help this person. It means turning some people away because the transaction is not win-win. It may also involve selling a smaller ticket item as opposed to a larger ticket item because the former is a better fit. Honesty builds trust and credibility with people faster than anything else.

Nothing will ensure your long-term success as well as the proper mental attitude and honesty. We will talk more about these items in the March newsletter.
